So in April, 219 girls were abducted and they still remain unaccounted for. Now, boys/men, 97 unaccounted for, until Chad intervened. Above is a picture of me on CNN's iReport back when I was doing my little part to bring global attention to the chibok girls abduction. I think it was around the same time the #BringBackOurGirls campaign started.
Recently a news article carried that, Cameroun soldiers have been told not to share information with Nigerian military as regards BH, and I still don't understand the logic behind that. The interesting thing is, witnesses near the shores of Lake Chad said they saw Militants clothed in military and police uniforms burning houses along the way. Wait.. So does that mean our soldiers are guilty? How do we find out? Indict? Punish? And Forestall?
It's just unbelievable what Nigeria has turned to. I can tell you that when nothing is done for a LONG while, like the case of the Chibok girls, even the abductions of almost 100 boys now becomes, "one of those things"... Nothing new, or "business as usual". Isn't that sad? I don't want to even imagine being in their shoes. No I don't. Just imagine that was you, your family, what would this life mean to you?
Here's what I think, we are really playing with an inferno. They first bombed empty cars far from where people were and we did nothing. Then they bombed people, many people, at bus stations and Government buildings, and we still did nothing! Then they took our daughters, first it was 20, and we did nothing, then 219, and WE ARE STILL NOT DOING ANYTHING! So now they've gone to our sons. What next? I ask. And we keep doing nothing! Like Mali, let's get genuine help and kick them out! Let's work, let's 'fight'! And damn those responsible along the way.
If we are ONE Nigeria, whatever is happening in the North, should be taken as if it's happening in the South, East, or West. That's the way out. May God save and bless Nigeria.
