HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY; HOME OF BOXERS

These are the guys we should have taken to the Olympics! Seriously we'd have gotten all the gold medals  I was doing the Midday dialogue on Tuesday when news broke of the 'free for all' fight that happened at the Rivers state house of assembly.
Nigeria Info Fm is known for bringing first-hand information, so in cause of the show we contacted the two sides involved in the clash, and I interviewed them Live on air for the audience to hear for themselves what these factions had to say, and I'd like to say I was really disappointed with how events turned out. 'Pro Amaechi vs Anti Amaechi Law makers (Lol). Funny factions I must say!

The 'Pro Amaechi faction' was claiming the other faction attacked them with the police, while the 'anti Amaechi faction' was also claiming that the governor of Rivers State and members of the other faction attacked them with thugs. Well I don't know, the summary of it all is that both factions had a fight, and a couple of them got hospitalized.
Now, I don't really want to talk about the politics angle of it because, if you've been following the political crisis in Rivers state, you'd understand that we might not end now if we start. But I want us to analyze the actions of this honourable men. We have three arms of government; executive, legislature, and judiciary. The legislature are law makers and it's these laws that bind the people. They are often called honourables because it's really an honour to be picked out to represent your people and speak on their behalf. Now, when these 'honourables' stoop so low up to the point of fighting and attacking each other, what does it tell you about the kind of leadership they are offering? And what does it also tell you about us that has voted them in?

Majority Leader attacking Hon. Chinda (PICTURES DON'T LIE)
I think we should be mindful of those we select as leaders; leaders are meant to be servants. I don't think servants will act the way most of those honourable men did, but come to think of it. . . This same thing happened at the House of Reps in 2010, and it has kept happening in some parts of the world. We always see fights in legislature buildings! I think we should put a law that says; ' any lawmaker caught fighting should be stripped of his or her honourablehood' . . .I think that'd raise the standard a bit. What do you think?
here is a link to watch the video clip of part of what happened that day in the assembly complex: http://community.vanguardngr.com/video/rivers-state-assembly-mayhem
it's really shameful.. i must say
